It does seem as though the scouting for future acquisitions – from the reports we receive – is more active and professionally handled at West Ham United these days. Whether it is part of the Tim Steidten reform – after all, there seems a very big ‘player scouting’ division at London Stadium, including if I remember correctly Tim’s brother – Moritz who is ‘head of international scouting’.
Have never seen or heard anything of his work for the club but it seems that someone is getting out and keeping an eye on future talent.
Latest name to be linked as ‘one West Ham are keeping an eye on’ is Leicester City’s defender Caleb Okoli, who the Foxes signed themselves last summer for just over £10 million from Atalanta. His form is such that he has just received a call-up into the Italy squad.

TBRFootball ‘s report today confirms that apart from West Ham, Newcastle and Spurs have been scouting the 23 year old defender who is apparently “an aeriel threat in both boxes” (work that one out?) – I suspect the inference is from that is the player is great in the air both defensively and offensively.
Compared to years gone by, it is good to hear of such long-range scouting taking place. The best teams in the PL have often produced young talent seemingly out of thin air and West Ham always seemed to be playing catch-up.
So, indeed, encouraging to hear of the Irons proactivity. Lets see if it lands us that mythical 23 year old striker in January.
