It takes a certain quality of player to remain loyal to fans thousands of miles away even when he is no longer playing at the club or even living in the country. I guess the mutual admiration society that was Hammers’ fan appreciation of one of our UEFA Conference League Winners that it certainly endured after his move away last window.
It was Carlos Soler who revealed the insider who convinced him to come to West Ham – none other than fan favourite Pablo Fornals.
Despite David Moyes‘ casting aside of Pablo at the end of last winters’ window, it is clear that he still holds the Hammers close to his heart even though he’s now playing for Real Betis in La Liga.
In Soler’s first interview for whufc.com, our deadline day signing confirmed he’d called Fornals for his opinion about a move to London Stadium.
Soler reveals: “I’ve spoken with Pablo Fornals, and he has told me that this Club is one of the biggest in the Premier League, so let’s have a big season. He is an idol here and spent four-and-a-half seasons at West Ham. Hopefully, I can repeat his success.”
A great ambition and importantly an insight into the future plans of the late loan signing who travelled by ‘plane to sign as a Hammer in time to beat the Premier League’s deadline. Soler is obviously planning on a long-term future at London Stadium – planning to repeat Pablo’s four and a half years! Now that is an attitude we love from our ‘loanee’. Sounds like he is here to put down some East London roots rather than just to take a squad place for a season.
Oh – and Thanks, Pablo, for putting the word in. We love ya!
Fornals is right, we have the seventh largest revenue, we are one of the largest premier league clubs. We have come up in the world in more recent times.
Back in the late 1960s when I was first a fan we invariably finished somewhere near the bottom, generally a first tier team but not always. We’re considerably more than that now.
I’m hoping that very recent improvements will see us punching our weight before long.
Can we get Pablo back in January?
Yes please!!!! I’d love to have him back and I reckon he’d love to come back.
The door is wide open Mr Fornals
Big love to you señor Fornals. Has anyone anywhere got a bad word to say about that bloke?
Not me that’s for sure, would have him back in the squad in an instant.
Agree there Cueball nobody has a bad word to say about that bloke, who gave 100% every game even when played out of position. We all took to him in the stands and yes have him back. Proper iron.
