Hammers seeded top in first European round

europa-league-1418338658West Ham have been seeded top of 104 teams in the Europa League first round.

In the first qualifying round teams are divided into teams based on their 2015  UEFA club coefficients and then drawn into two legged home and away ties.

The club coefficient rankings are determined by the results of clubs in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League over the previous five seasons, as well as by the coefficient of the clubs’ association. The club coefficient is the sum of the points earned by the club over the five seasons plus 20% of the club’s association coefficient.

With no experience in Europe over the past five years, West Ham’s coefficient score of 16.078 is purely down to other Premier League club’s success in Europa and Champions league. England is ranked second in the country coefficient rankings behind Spain.

Second ranked team is Moldovan team FC Sheriff Tiraspol with a score of  14.500 with third ranking going to Norwegian team Rosenborg Ballklub with a coefficient of 11.875.

  1. Bring it on! Time we had a european mystery tour, should be good 😉

  2. As we’re seeded number one the obvious opponent would be Go Ahead Eagles from the barely heard of Dutch league, for those of you who haven’t heard of it it’s an inferior league where they play strange football and no one of any note has ever emerged

  3. We will end up in some desolate eastern European war zone, Wheres my tin hat ?

  4. Yeah or some israeli team about 1/2 a mile from the Palestinian border with RPGs flying over the players heads 😀 Knowing our luck we will start our european adventure making the huge trip to a welsh team 😉

  5. The little town of Airbus will give us a welcome in the hillside lol

  6. Prob need to buy a really detailed map of the far reaches of the arse end of nowhere’s lesser known local rivals. 😀

  7. You know we are going to end up with theIrish Lady’s champions, who are equal to the Dutch champions,
That would be good A trip to South Ireland
    But Isreal is ok

  8. Actually this competition sounds a bit sort of a lower standard ??
