Hammers set for £25m midfielder bid

West Ham United are tonight being reported as being ready to launch a £25 million bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

And this would fit with regular reports from CandH that Slaven Bilic has rejected the chance to buy a new striker because he is far more interested in reinforcing his midfield.

According to the Mail on Line West Ham have been wary of doing business in the past with Sporting Lisbon who have demanded a price closer to his release clause which is understood to be £39.5million.

Now though the Hammers,  hope they can broker a compromise involving Carvalho’s new agent Pere Guardiola, brother of Manchester City boss Pep.

City, West Bromwich Albion and Arsenal have all been linked with Carvalho this year as they look for holding midfielders.

The player has appeared 37 caps times for his country, winning Euro 2016, and is eager to move to the Premier League with London being particularly attractive.

West Ham have already broken their club transfer record to bring in strikers Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic but Slaven Bilic recognises he needs a quality ball-winner to protect his defence.

  1. Very unlikely to happen but if it did this really would be a statement of intent from the board, would be really excited to see him in our midfield COYI!!!

  2. If its true they will no way take 25mil if the buy out is 39 so why waste our time .if we are serious we got to put a 30mil at the very least imo

  3. Don’t wait up 😂😂

  4. Don’t need him we’ve already got our own version of Iniesta prowling centre midfield wearing the captains armband and the blistering pace of a 2nd hand mobility scooter 😆😆😆

    • If it wasn’t so true GW it would be funny.First it was Nolan snd now it’s Noble.

    • How dare you Insult a second hand mobility scooter, the parish smellies have gone up in arms at the implication ,😂😂 a stair climber would be more appropriately receieved and accurate 😂😂😂😂

  5. Yes seems a long shot but he is a proper DCM and with our turnover in Mid at least they are looking in right area. Elneey could be a cheaper chance only 25.
But I will wet myself with excitement if this happens and looks like Jota will happen with £3m bid rejected they want £8m and he wants the move. Not AKEM ZYRICH, but be good back up for Antonio and help for Lanzini.
If we make this 2 signings would be great and should I get greedy and say finish with a CB under 30 not injury prone!

  6. Best news of the window so far is Andre Gray signing for Watford for an incredible £18.5 million – if it was up to me I’d go for Troy Deeney!

  7. Not for ? I’d mug him right off 😎
