Hammers set to exercise midfielder’s option

West Ham look set to trigger the one year option they hold on Samir Nasri despite the player’s current injury problem.

The return of Manuel Lanzini was thought by some to have reduced the chances of that happening but Manuel Pellegrini is keen to ensure the French midfielder stays on board.

Lanzini will need plenty of action to get back to full fitness and the Hammers are determined to guard against any future injury problems in an area of the pitch where they have been light of options.

Nasri is currently suffering from a calf strain and missed the trip to Malaga. He is more likely to be available for the trip to Manchester City than the visit of Fulham next Friday evening.

Meanwhile Carlos Sanchez is making a recovery which could see him back in action next month as he recovers from a knee injury which has sidelined him for most of the season.

The Hammers fans and technical staff hope that Nasri’s confirmation will give the team a technical and emotional spoon to confirm or even exceed the result of last season, which ended with the tenth place in the Premier League table.

The predictions of online bookmakers seem unanimous about the fate of West Ham this season. As you can read on MrCasinova, the best online betting sites predict a good season for the Hammers, which will probably end with a place in the bottom half of the Premier League ranking.

  1. Seems to be a long time out over a Calf Strain ! . Good to see Pelligrini wants him though .
It would have been a surprise to see Lanzini back so soon .
Best all round for them both tbh . There is more chance of injury against the lower teams anyway because of their collective lack of technique . We need to be very careful against those fighting relegation and we can’t afford more injuries or muscular problems .

  2. It’ll be fantastic to see Lanzini back. Can’t see us being able to field Lanzini and Nasri at the same time but what a great selection dilemma to have! Unfortunately, I can’t see how Wilshire would fit in, if and when recovered, unless he’s any good at left back … instead of left out, I suppose.

Apart from the Wolves mistake, I think Sanchez looked reasonable in DMF so it would be useful to have him back before the season ends to come on instead of Obiang when Noble tires. I also hope some more of our younger players are able to get first team playing time before the season is over to see what potential resources we have for the future.

  3. I am not against extemding Nasri’s contract , what I have seen of him he looked decent. It is a shame he picked up an injury so soon after starting, but that is always a possibility after he was out of the game for so long. Will be great to see Lanzini back but that will take time for him to be match fit wish them both the best of luck. COYI ⚒
