West Ham are set to miss out on signing of Moises Caicedo after Brighton reached an agreement with Independiente del Valle, according to reports in Ecuador.
It had been claimed that the Hammers and Everton have made official bids for Independiente del Valle midfielder Moises Caicedo according to Nicolò Schira.
The Italian journalist said talks were ongoing with his agent as the 19-year-old awaits a work permit.
In October, Caciedo became the first player born in the 21st century to score in CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying with a goal in Ecuador’s 4-2 win over Uruguay.
Caicedo has made 31 appearances for Independiente, scoring six goals. He made his international debut for Ecuador in October and has gone on to earn four caps since.
Manchester United and Chelsea were said to have been interested in December but those talks came to nothing and no bids were received.
The youngster who could be available for a transfer fee as low as €6million which could include a 20 per cent sell-on clause.
One MLS side – thought to be Atlanta United – are also said to be in the running.
But according to reports in Ecuador on Friday evening, Independiente del Valle have now reached an agreement with Brighton over a deal for Caicedo.
