Hammers show they are the real thing

Match verdict by Hughie Southon

West Ham have emerged out of a difficult period with four straight wins and two successive clean sheets.

Zouma – set for return

At a time when we have been stripped of three first team defenders but with Cress back and Kurt Zouma looking ready to return this weekend or next, things are looking good with games against Leeds and Man United upcoming.

The Hammers were good enough against Norwich – who look a doomed side . They have managed eight goals this season and never looked likely to beat us since they last managed it 32 years ago,

Jarrod Bowen must be the best buy in years and was outstanding throughout the 90 minutes – maybe the new girlfriend has  put a spring in his step!!!

Seriously, at £20 odd million the man is proving himself an extraordinary buy and watching Manu Lanzini these days has one scratching the head over how we managed to snap him up for £8 million.

Whether Tomas Soucek is back on Sunday we’re not certain but with Lanzini in his current form he wasn’t seriously missed.

This wasn’t one of those great wins over the likes of Chelsea but it was incredibly important and with those four wins on the trot the confidence is starting to grow .

Like all teams we have had our little slump but unlike some we have bounced back and are right back into our stride again.

That top four is looking a reality! Their bounce back shows they are the real thing.

  1. Love your upbeat assessment Hughie and like you I am very stimulated by the new Manu and Vlasic – more skill and ball retention developing. I think Mikey is playing a vital role in taking the heat – his rep is going before him at the mo but that opens other doors I find the Masuaku/ Yarmo sub routine ineffective and a waste – use the young subs for ten mins to develop please DM
