Hammers slip to another horrible defeat

Wolves 3 Irons 0

by Hugh Southon

Fabianski was heroic

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong on another night of despair from a Hammers team which has taken four points from a possible 15 in the League!

This was a horrible defeat  on a night when the team completely failed  to wipe away memories of the AFC Wimbledon horror show.

Quite simply the return of our big players made not a scrap of difference and all the words spoken of Marko Arnautovic’s return to action ended with him hobbling heavily from the pitch seemingly unable to put any weight bearing on his right leg.

How long he will be out for is anyone’s guess and the arrival of Carroll and Hernandez made not the slightest difference.

Wolves bossed the game and in the second half we were forced to suffer the ‘Olays’ of the crowd as the newly promoted outfit strung pass after pass together.

It could have been five of six without Fabianski who made three world class saves but had no chance with any of those from Saiss (66) or Jiminez 80 and 86.

He even continued after a lengthy spell on the ground when being concussed in a horrible looking collision.

We were never ever at the races and barely threatened. It  would be easy to make the excuse that we have put to much pressure on 15 or so players for too long.

But Pellegrini refuses to do so because in reality there’s no point. We are now in 11th spot with Bournemouth a point behind us with a game in hand and Liverpool up next.

We need players back but are not gonna get them and somehow a miracle needs to occur if we are to climb out of this awful run of form.

This was the second ‘double’ scored over us this season and but for the heroics of the brilliant Fabianski it could have been so much worse.

Manuel Pellegrini  looks like a man under pressure again and on his reported £10 million a year will need to find some answers very quickly.

The reality is that to be the big club he wants us to be we need big players and I’m afraid their aren’t enough of those in this West Ham team right now!

  1. Thet are all an utter disgrace… So in reality the few wins in December against average teams was just a lucky streak…we are still the old West ham with no heart ..the players should be ashamed of themselves…..overpaid morons..

  2. what do people think about the arnie injury, for me it was really dodgy but Idk if I am being cynical.

Two days left to bring in some much needed talent. No one impressed tonight except fab 🙁

  3. That was shameful , where is the effort and passion the players need to sort this now . Whatever is going on in the background just sort it that was not acceptable .

  4. Listened on radio London.Thank God I didn’t watch it.Abysmal and dismal according to BBC sport and the Guardian.Yes we have been cursed with injuries but is it any coincidence that since Ogbonna,Obiang, Masuaku, Carroll have come in to the team the wheels have come off.We need at least 3 quality players in this transfer window and it’s been obvious all season that when we lose our top players this lot are not fit to wear the shirt.2 days to splash some cash or watch us plummet.

    • Yes I listened to it on Radio London too as it was my only option down under in South Australia…a whole game and only four shots but not one shot on target against twenty shots and nine on target says it all…I really felt like turning it off, but hey, I think you follow your team to the end through thick and thin and I have to say it can’t get much thinner than it is right now!!

      • At least you have the weather to cheer you up Shogun. Its snowing here and raining in my heart. The joy of following the Hammers eh.

  5. Did we expect anything else after Wimbledon. We have a “team” of overpaid ,second rate players with no fight, desire or respect for what the manager is trying to do.The sooner we clear out the deadwood and I don’t need to name them, the better. The problem will be with the results we are producing who would want to join West Ham.
