West Ham have not received a single offer for midfielder Guido Rodriguez.
That’s the latest from a high-level Hammers insider responding to speculation that Club América—Rodriguez’s former club—had made a £2 million offer for the World Cup-winning Argentine.
Stories began to circulate yesterday suggesting that two Mexican clubs were eyeing a move for the 31-year-old, but when we put that to a top London Stadium source, the reply was blunt: “Sadly no, but we’re hoping for one.”
It’s been made clear time and again that Rodriguez is very much for sale as the club look to trim a bloated midfield.
Freddie Potts is expected to feature prominently under Graham Potter this season, meaning Rodriguez is likely to find himself even further down the pecking order.
While the Argentine has previously spoken of playing in the Premier League being a lifelong dream, he’s also believed to be homesick and open to a move back to South America or Spain.
As one of the club’s higher earners, West Ham would welcome any offer that could get him off the wage bill. But for now, the wait continues.
£100k per week for someone who can barely run! £40m payment due to Barclays next week. Where has the Premier League prize money gone from last season and the money given at the beginning of each season to competing clubs? The Board have been caught with their trousers down which inevitably means relegation. My hope is Potter can work wonders with a threadbare squad….. weaker than last year!!’ What’s the odds??
rodriguez is a top quality player in the right system, potter needs to figure out how to get the best out of him, it’s not hard, let him dictate the tempo and camp in front of the penalty box where he is an absolute beast. needs a box to box maniac that brings energy and ball carrying and you have an exceptional double pivot.
Good! Here we have a player of the tournament. Come on Potter. Earn your money and work out how to make the best use of him. You are supposedly a well-respected coach. Prove it. Alternatively sell him for three pence halfpenny and just say he didn’t fit the system.
You’re getting him mixed-up with Edson Alvarez!
Who would have thought with Sullivan’s and Brady in charge of the transfer would be such a shambles. Brady’s got a cheek to have a go at people on the Apprentice about their negotiating skill. Sullivan and Brady have taken incompetence to the next level. World class stadium with world class players. Laughing stock more likely.
The motto of this transfer window is “the wait continues”.
