Hammers speak on Adebayor

adebaWest Ham will not be making a move for out-of-contract Emmanuel Adebayor in January.

Rumours have been flying – often presented as fact- that the club will finally get the striker as a result of what is perceived as a striker crisis at West Ham.

However, with Andy Carroll only sidelined for one match, Enner Valencia back and with Nikica Jelavic available a move for the former Spurs man always seemed unlikely.

And this afternoon were were told by a top source at Upton Park there was no move planned for the player at all.

The Hammers had attempted to him last January when the deal was blocked by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and have seemingly been linked with him every time there has been an injury problem since.

But our source made it clear this afternoon there would be no move for the player saying: “That was then and this is now. We are confident we are okay. There will be no move for Adebayor.”

Any more problems with AC or Jelavic picks up a knock we will be talking to someone I think,
Depends on Sakho and Moses return time,

  • Michael Miller says:

Judging by that picture of Sakho’s thigh operation you can’t expect him back for months – the striking options are looking thin – emergency measures may have to be considered but there must be far better options than Adebayor – maybe a loanee from Turkey?

We don’t need anyone in January. You are only going to get unwanted, or journeymen mercenaries in January. Our most successful signings of seasons past. The likes of cresswell kouyate or sakho are not to be found in January. I would rather we played one of our own academy players that someone like Adebayor.

Jelavic and carrol need to get moved on , they just dont fit the system.antonio deserves a good run in the side to prove himself .i believe that he has everything it takes to be more of a success than moses. I was so hoping that we got javier hernandez in the summer ,hes doing well for leverkusen having scored 17 goals in 14 games .he would have been the icing on the cake for us .
