The Hammers squad may be tested like never before over the next few weeks.
Hammers squad may be tested like never before
David Moyes looks set to face the toughest part of his season and one that may show us a lot about the squad he has assembled writes Hughie Southon.
Today has been a bad day with the injury news on Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Konstantinos Mavropanos. Coupled with the Mohammed Kudus hamstring problem and the fact that he, along with Nayef Aguerd is away at Afcon, means we may be looking at a really problematical time.
Should none of them be available for the game against Bristol City next week or the Sheffield United Premier League game at Brammal Lane we are, as a certain Mr Harry Redknapp have said, be down to the bare bones. The replacements look at best worryingly average.
Will it be Ings or Mubama for Bowen – not good. Will it be Benrahma for Paqueta and Fornals for Kudus…will it be Oggy at central defence?
In every case there is reason to be concerned as these are questions none of us, and no doubt David Moyes, hoped would ever need to be asked.
It shows all too clearly what so many have been saying, that the manager has relied on the same faces as starters for too long in a football world where success is based on the rotation of very good players.
Let’s hope Moyes and his fringe players can step up!
Well Hughie I’m hoping the squad will be tested as never before – if three are missing then boldly select three and bring on at least three subs and involve and rotate the squad to the full. Boldly select players regardless of age, and surely Cornet must get a look? Just don’t send out crocked players with crossed fingers!
This is what Steidten is here for. No point blaming moyes if this window goes south. All on Tim.
Which is of course prejudicial nonsense LOL
