West Ham star Tomas Soucek could have moved to Italy earlier in his career, according to a new report.
The Hammers secured the signing of the midfielder from Slavia Prague in January of 2020 and has been exceptional for the club for some time, playing in every Premier League game last season.
However, a new report in Italy from Gianluca Di Marzio claims that he very nearly moved to Serie A instead of making the switch to east London.
Fiorentina and Genoa are both said to have made a real effort to take him away from Slavia, with the former meeting with his agent repeatedly in an attempt to convince him to move.
They couldn’t reach an agreement for his signature, though, while Genoa did not believe that he was worth the £5.8m that was being demanded by Slavia at the time.
That, of course, will be a source of huge regret for both Italian sides.
