Hammers still chasing big two

BarrylescottWest Ham are still keen to bring  Gareth Barry to Upton Park and are keeping an eye on Joleyon Lescott.

Despite the club being keen to lower the average age of the squad, either would be seen as a quality signing for the new season.

It’s unlikely, however, that both will be arriving as according to sources inside the club they are looking for top wages given their free signings status.

Newly promoted Leicester City are believed to be ready to rival the Hammers for Barry and are reported to be preparing a £60,000 a week offer whilst Queens Park Rangers are in for Lescott.

But a Hammers insider revealed exclusively to ClaretandHugh that the Irons are very keen “on BOTH players.”

He added, however, that there was only so much left in the wages pot and both were after big money.

We understand that Lescott is likely to be offered a one year deal should the club reach a negotiating point with the former England defender whilst Barry is wanted over two.
