Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran remains keen on a move to West Ham, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The football transfer expert revealed this morning that Duran is still eager to move to the London Stadium. Romano also added that Duran would be happy to join the Hammers to play alongside Niclas Füllkrug.

Claret & Hugh learned from a top source at West Ham only a couple of days ago that the club has not completely ruled out a move for another striker. However, the Hammers insider stipulated that ‘forwards’ would need to leave for such a move to happen.

Presumably, the plural reference alludes to both Danny Ings and Michail Antonio departing to facilitate this move. Therefore, it seems unlikely that a transfer for Duran will occur, particularly given that Ings has already rejected the chance to join his former club, Southampton, this summer.

Hammers Chat my first game was West Ham 10-0 Bury . . . seriously!
We than went and bought Bury's central defender 😬⚒️ Irons

Started Hammers Chat alongside my partner in crime Geo back in 2014 and brough in to Claret & Hugh by my old mate Hughie to produce videos a couple of years later.

Give West Ham opinions on Sky Sports News and even did a bit of moonlighting on BBC Football Focus.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.

Villafan here. You are welcome to this idiotic prize pillock. He has ‘potential’but it will never, repeat NEVER be realised because he hasl the worse attitude us Villa fanshave ever seen in a youngstee. If you think he wants to join you, you are deluded – last year, he didnt turn up for pre season posting pics outside ‘the club he loves’Espagnol. This summer, he always supported Chelsea and was desperste to go there, until they did background checks and found, the above, the fact he has smashed up two ferrarìs and an apartment since May. He then wants to join West Ham. News for you – he is courting Al Hilal now !!!. As say, we want rid, and rid quick, but þhe fact is he coʻst over 2⁰m with a sell on – we aint short of money – you want him – you pay !. You don’t – we will put him in our youth team ,his career he is killing !. A 20yr old nobody trying to take on one of the worlds best managers and our owners (Adidas) – you couldnt make it up !!!

Of course Ings doesn’t want to leave as he’s earning £120,000 per week just to warm the bench and is unlikely to get that sort of deal elsewhere.

Fine if Ings goes bring in Duran at the right price.
    There’s now talk of Creisa.
Must be close to reaching end of the pot?
    Defence strengthening is a must.
No good conceding more than you score ask Moyes.

There is no race for Duran is there ? Is anybody at all in for him ?

What does it matter what Duran wants ? He can want what he likes but it’s no indicator as to what might happen. Others need to want him.

Is there any indication that another forward is one of our priorities ? That we haven’t ruled it out but others would need to leave first doesn’t seem to make it one.

The most likely thing is that the Duran story is over.

BtW JA,exactly how many in the squad now?
According to your recent (mis)calculation we should now have 26 players. In fact,it’s 23.

I hope this deal goes through. Duran is a gifted player and although he had limited game time at Villa due to the presence of Watkins, he is very technical and could rotate well with Fullkrug. But, as mentioned, for this deal to happen either Antonio or Ings should leave and considering game time, I think Ings should leave for a club where he can play more so that we can sign Duran.
