Sam Allardyce’s “we are finished in the transfer” remark in to an Upton Park Press Conference has drawn wry smiles from many West Ham United insiders.

The West ham United manager insisted “we’re done” in the pre-match presser earlier today but ClaretandHugh can reveal there are still behind the scenes moves being made.

And despite there being reservations over 5 ft 9 in Leeds United striker Ross McCormack, we have learned that the club intends “staying close” to the Championship club to aid any future negotiations.

And we had it confirmed that the irons are inded keeping a careful eye on Southampton’s record signing, Dani Osvaldo (above).

Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Juventus all reported to be interested in moving for the former Roma striker but although a senior Upton Park source refused to elabotrate he claimed the club was keeping an eye on the situation.

The fiery Italian international last week shocked team-mates after aiming a butt at Jose Fonté, leaving him with a black eye following a tackle in training on Wednesday. He has since been suspended and fined by the club.

Our source told us exclusively: “The Hammers owners never stop looking and  are known to take a punt here and there  until the window actually slams shut.. Sam doesn’t want to get caught up in a never ending circus of media speculaton

“McCormack remains on the radar although that’s more likely to be a summer deal whilst Osvaldo’s position is interesting!”
