Hammers still scrapping for Batshuayi

|

West Ham appear to have only a slim chance of landing Michy Batshuayi before deadline day closes this evening.

The Hammers have been negotiating all morning to bring the Chelsea striker to the London Stadium but ClaretandHugh understands the player is reluctant to join us.

However, a club insider told us by e mail: “We are still in there scrapping.”

‘Bats’ is believed to have set his heart on a loan move to Spurs although with relationships between Chelsea and the North Londoners not good that’s unlikely to happen.

Hammers insiders told CandH  the signs are not good for us being able to land a player who has become a long term target since his Marseille days.

He is currently at Stamford Bridge  after completing half a season at Valencia  and his only other alternative could now be a loan switch to Real Betis.

The Hammers are refusing to give up completely but it would be a surprise if the move to east London were to  go through.

Some media are reporting that our deal has been dropped with Gomez due to personal terms not being acceptable to Gomez, any news on that Hugh ?

    • Which media is that 32 cos if it’s Sky they are covering their backsides having said all window it will happen and even following the signing of Arnauovic didn’t understand. WE are still into him in the summer

Can’t remember it might have been sky but if it is true it would mean at least that Celta had given us permission to speak with them. To be honest now I would be keen to see a decent midfielder come in, the last few games have highlighted that our players lack desire to be consistent and are lacking in ability to control games or create chances. All change at the end of the season hopefully and we will ditch the money grabbers for players that want to be at the club. Shame we couldn’t get Shelvey, Newcastle signed one of our former targets Almiron for £20m, I think our club needs a shot in the arm of a quality signing.

If he don’t want us why go for someone that don’t want to to play for west ham??? He’s gonna go down like a lead balloon in the fans eyes, especially if he’s looking to go to spuds????🎈🎈🎈

Ah the January transfer window. Its deja vu.Linked with dozens of players and in reality scraping to get a deal done in the final few hours.Surely Husillos was brought on board to stop a repeat of last years Hugill fiasco. All Hammers fans know we need a back up left back another centre half,a midfielder and a striker. We have seen in the last 3 matches what happens when we rely on the back up players when injuries strike..All that good work in December is sliding down the pan.Sorry for sounding so negative but its always the same.We can all see it but the powers that be seem clueless. Was the Gomez.chase just a wasted month or in reality a red herring to throw the fans again.

Last thing we need is another player that doesn’t want to be here.

They had all January to sort something now at the end they are rushing around to try and get an awful player who dosnt even want to play for us over the line .ha ha ha only at West ham…Gomez has seen enough that’s why he has changed his mind and upped his wages…good job we had that run in December because can’t see were the next win is coming from

I have to agree with the other comments here.It looks like a last desperate plunge to get a striker that has clearly stated before he does not fancy a move to West Ham.We already have enough strikers with that mindset at the club.

January Transfer Window should be scrapped . All clubs should see out the Season with existing Players . Changing the squad mid-season is , to my mind , unfair to the Football Leagues up & down the country . Basically , I find it Unsportsmanlike . It’s only there for yet another opportunity for Agents To line Thier pockets . I understand that there are clubs struggling , but that doesn’t make it right . Clubs have the Entire Summer to Sell & Sign the players who could make a difference for the following season .

When will we learn. Why are we still trying to sign another mercenary who never wanted to come to us in the first place.
