Jurgen Klopp is reported this morning to have no interest in selling Daniel Sturridge which may come as a blow to West Ham.
Liverpool will be suffering a striker shortage in January via the African Cup of Nations and Sturridge will be required at Anfield.
The club have Sadio Mane on Africa Cup of Nations duty which is likely to scupper even a bid to take him on a short term loan deal and with Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho also out of action with an ankle ligament injury – and unlikely to be fit until then – Liverpool have no intention of allowing the England hitman out of Anfield.
Danny Ings is also sidelined for the rest of the season, and Adam Lallana is only just returning after injury, leaving the German coach with few options.
The Hammers are looking all over for a striker and right back this winter and a club insider had admitted to ClaretandHugh that Sturridge is one in which they were interested.
He said: “Of course there would be an interest as there is in every top striker but he is not the only player on our list in that position.”
I am glad if true, Sturridge is another injury prone striker, he is not a long term solution and is reportedly on more money than Payet already so why would he leave when he can win silverware at Liverpool. T
No change from the summer window then. Come on Daves, get yerselves sorted! Going down otherwise.
The thought of another 8 weeks of reports of strikers who might be coming, but in the end won’t come- I am losing the will to live. The club have made such a mess of the summer recruitment that our chances of a decent striker are zero. If we could not get anybody worth having in the summer after last season, and at a time when people actually thought the OS might attract good players rather than put them off we sure are not gonna get em now. Same with managers, if we manage to sink even further and Bilic does get the boot. I think our only hope is that between them Sakho and Carroll manage 25 games. An outsider would say that is not much to ask but we know different. I have a feeling AC may now have one of these issues that cannot be sorted, like Dean Ashton did all those years ago. I think between them those two could keep us up, but I don’t think we will get in a replacement for them now.
