Hammers summer spending reaches £70m

West Ham United Unveil New Signing Simone ZazaWest Ham have spent £35m more in transfer dealings this summer than for the whole of last season figures have revealed. West Ham co-chairman David Gold wrote on WHUFC.com earlier today that summer transfer spending has now reached £60m.

Yesterday Vice Chairman Karren Brady wrote in her Sun Football diary “So far this summer have spent £40million and if Simone Zaza signs, over £60m, a new record for us. And yet it doesn’t seem to be enough for some supporters.”

ClaretandHugh believe the Hammers have committed to shelling out a total of £70m in this transfer window comprising of Zaza (£4.2m loan fee+ £17m transfer fee), Fernandes £5.44m, Ayew £20.5m, Masuaku £6.2m, Lanzini (including add-ons) £10.2m, Tore £2.55m (loan fee), Martinez  £2.55m and Calleri (loan fee) £850,000.

When you subtract the £10m we received for James Tomkins our net spend on transfers reaches the £60m figure quoted by Gold and Brady. Last season we shelled out nearly £44m in transfer feeds but crucially we received nearly £20m back in return for outgoing players making our actual net spend just under £25m.

  1. I think it’s fair enough what she said but she will probably get flack for it from the supporters she has offended, she should maybe have phrased it a minority of supporters which I feel it is. I am happy with the business the board has done, they have spent a lot 11 players some straight in the first team and some for the future, well done all involved COYI!!!

  2. Whats the odds on the Zaza permanent fee being included again in their sums for next summer.Come on we ain’t weighing that out until next year if at all.Nice try though Goldie lol

    • Lanzinis permanent fee is counted here, so Zaza’s permanent fee should be counted next summer. So £53 million which is still enormous.
Zaza’s gametime was not much last season because he was no. 4 striker. I hope he scores more for us considering he’ll be number 1.

  3. Unless he really takes to the Premier League (which obviously I really hope he does) then on previous form we’ve got ourselves a 10 goal a season striker. Hopefully he’ll add a bit more pressure upfield as well.

  4. How many games does Zara have to play before committing to buy ?
Explain please ? We need to know if its a good buisness deal or if you have been stiffed ?
    Into a panic buy ,
Regardless weather Zara is good enough or not , he’s still unproven ?
He is a hammer now and we want to see him thrive !
How many games , not a hard question , or is it ! Lol.
Brady ! 32 is only interested in the brand ! Not the supporters ?
Its probably padantic on my part , but to me its important !
    I’m a nosey basrsterd ! ( smiley )

    • 16 Premier League appearances and it becomes a done deal apparently

      • Thanks Sean . Hope he gives us a goal more than every 138 mins as mentioned ?
Not a lot of return for that sort of money ? That means realistically that the MF will have to do very well again ?
Maybe his off ball work will help that department ?( Smiley )
We are about to find out soon enough ?

    • Can think of a few names that fit you…. Padantic is not the first one I would use. Ms Brady could probably add one two if she reads your comments !

      • Personal ? Crossed the line !
OK nobbyman ms Brady is a Mrs nu nuts ? And you’re wife feels exactly the same *****y way towards you ?
She told me just before she took her teeth out ? ( bolloxs )

  5. Zaza averaged a goal every 138 mins to minutes played last season. A lot better than any players for us last season. All be it for juve

    • I don’t think we had a striker on for 138 mins lol.
Any idea how he stacks up to sakho per game time , calleri is streets ahead as well for minutes on pitch ?
Let’s hope they all get more with payet and lanzini supplying ?

  6. Antonio at RB again,
    Biggins starts as well,
Just can’t see this line up at all,but nice to see Fletcher starting if he can keep Biggins out of his way he might score,
What speed we have at the back,
Looks like a 0-0 team selection,
    Yep NEGATIVE,
