Hammers survive the drop

West Ham Under 23s have survived relegation by two points and one place to remain in first division of Premier League 2.

They earned just nine points from sixteen games and looked down and out but an amazing turn around say them earn fifteen points from their final eight games that saved them.

The Academy youngsters took four points from Arsenal U23 over two games in May to finish their season.

Southampton and Leicester City were relegated to division two while Manchester City were crowned champions of the Development top-flight league.

Hammers forward Ademipo ‘Mipo’ Odubeko has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for April. The 18-year-old enjoyed a fine month in front of goal for the U23s, netting five times in four appearances as the young Hammers mounted a late-season fightback in Premier League 2 Division 1.

Having recovered from the injury which ruled him out of the first half of the campaign, Odubeko went on to score 14 goals in just 12 Academy of Football appearances in 2020/21.
