Striker crisis: irons looking to Maiga for Reds clash!

diafra-sakho-542296Diafra Sakho is rated “no better than a 50-50 chance” for the visit to Liverpool.

And with seemingly Saudi-bound, Modobo Maiga, the only other fit striker at the club, it seems highly likely he is in line to get the ‘call to arms’!

Hopefully Maiga’s confidence will have been boosted by the goal against Bournemouth, but concerns remain that with a move to Saudi Arabia apparently around the corner he may not be 100 per cent focused.

Ok, no comments!

All of this assumes that the club don’t swoop on a striker and have him signed by the the Thursday deadline for the game.

Stories earlier that Maiga had completed a £6 million move to the Middle East were confused by fans close to Al Nassr claiming the figure was  6,000,000 Saudi Arabian Royal.

And we were told: “His move could happen after Saturday’s game. However, it will be a free transfer if it happens. At the moment with Sakho only 50/50, he remains the only fully fit option.”

  1. Elliot Lee. Ffs recall the lad and give him the chance he deserves!!

  2. Let Magia go now,
Lee can step up for one game but we should be able to get Adebouya in before Thursday
    Lunch time,
The board knew how tight it was how can every other club push through a transfer in 24 hours but it takes us a min of 3 weeks,
If your car breaks down you buy or hire another within hours but would the 2 Daves walk for 3 weeks to try and save 2 Bob NO
People have payed a lot of money to follow this club TV is paying a lot of money to this club
We need to get value for money you should have got shot of the dead wood and brought in the players required weeks ago

  3. Sullivan: Now, where did I put the post it note with Carlton’s number on again?

Seriously though, if we’re flogging Maiga why bother risking injury to him when we’ve been trying to shift him since he first entered the building? Get the young lads in. Or just chuck Kouyate up top for a game.

Sorry but we’ll effectively have 9 on the pitch if we start Nolan AND Maiga, and thats before mentioning the obligatory red card, it’s going to be cricket score lol.

  4. Wasn’t there a leak from the club last week that the striker crisis would be sorted by middle of this week. Where are we? Wednesday 3pm….hmmmm still waiting. Just as well we have faith in the club ….will probably find out that Benzema had his pen ready to sign the contract, but at the last minute he sprained his wrist or the cartridge ran out. By the time that was sorted some dirty cheating other club came along & offered more money. We could have matched but that would have meant breaking financial fair play rules. Happy days.

  5. I like the idea of playing Kouyate as a target man put Lanzini just by him Payet and Jarvis wide,
Play 3 at the back Tomkins Obong Ried
Play 3 in front of them Oxford Obiang Cresswell
    Subs Collins,Henry,Noble,Samulsun,Callum,Lee,
    Six defensive players giving width
    Just thinking outside the box

  6. We ruined Carlton Coles chances of getting another club and now we’re doing it to maiga. Chances are we will end up with the both of them still at the club. Yet again.
