Hammers talk on Derby defender

ChristieWest Ham have knocked down speculation that they are poised to make a bid for highly impressive Derby County full back Cyrus Christie.

The 22 year old has been a real hit for the Rams since his move from Coventry and although the Irons have watched the player he’s unlikely to become a realistic target for the club.

The 6ft 2in Republic of Ireland international defender has had rave reviews all season as County have risen to third place in the Championship one point behind joint leaders Bournemouth and Middlesborough.

A Hammers source told ClaretandHugh this morning (Sat): “He will cost a small fortune anyway but were Derby to go up he wouldn’t be for for sale anyway. He’s one we like but then we are monitoring up to 50 players at a time.”
