Hammers target set for new deal

West Ham target Brennan Johnson is set to sign a new contract at Nottingham Forest, as per The Athletic.

The attacking midfielder was heavily linked with a potential move to the London Stadium earlier this summer but Forest won promotion in the Championship play-off final and he is now poised to commit his future to the club.

Johnson is expected to sign a four-year contract at the City Ground and an agreement is said to be close.

He is entering the final year of his current contract and was in exceptional form for the club last season as Forest came up.

A Wales international with 13 caps and two goals to his name, Johnson scored 19 goals in 53 games, while also laying on nine assists.

The 21-year-old played a key role in their run to the play-offs, even scoring in both legs of the semi-final against Sheffield United, and is now set to play in the Premier League with his boyhood club.

  1. I rate Brennan Johnson Very highly and he has Superstar written all over him, but I’m not sure that there was ever ANY chance of us signing him. Once Forest had gained promotion the odds of that happening all but vanished, and even if they hadn’t gained promotion, there would have been LOADS of suiters for his signature (probably Liverpool amongst them).

I feel that the next move that he makes is guaranteed to be worth Mega Bucks and there isn’t too much chance of us being involved next time.
….but I guess that you can never say Never though?
