Hammers the third biggest spenders

By Dave Langton

West Ham are the third-biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer.

The Hammers have been active throughout the transfer window and have yet to complete their business, with boss David Moyes still aiming to add further new additions to his squad.

Thus far, Gianluca Scamacca has been signed from Sassuolo to bolster the forward line, while Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd arrived to beef up the defence, only to sustain an injury in pre-season.

Maxwel Cornet has arrived from Burnley, too, and can play both on the wing and at wing-back, while Flynn Downes has boosted the midfield numbers after coming in from Swansea. Alphonse Areola has also come in permanently from PSG after his successful loan spell last season.

The Irons have spent just over £100m, coming in at £100.5m, with the only two bigger spenders being Chelsea and Arsenal. The Blues have spent £167.9m, while the Gunners have splashed out £118.9m.

One comment on “Hammers the third biggest spenders

  1. West Ham may currently be 3rd most spending, but they needed to!?
Look at their net spend over the last 5 or 6 seasons?
We’ll see where they are on Sept 1 and my guess would be West Ham end up around mid table on net spend.
