Hammers tipped for Turf Moor victory

Paul Merson reckons the Hammers are ready to record a 0-2 win at Burnley tomorrow basing his opinion on the possible absence of Clarets star man Maxwell Cornet.

The winger is being reported as a likely absentee by Lancs Live and Burnley Express per Hammers News.

And Merson sees that as a problem for the Clarets whom he reckons are always going to be a hard team to beat and one that is unlikely to drop into the Championship.

If the former Arsenal player is right it will mean the Hammers will be gaining their fourth win on the road having beaten Newcastle, Leeds, Aston Villa and Everton in the Premier League.

The Hammers of course have problems of their own and David Moyes has dropped a hint he may solve his central defensive problem by pulling skipper Rice into the back four.

Merson declared: “Burnley are a hard team to beat and they most likely won’t go down this season. A lot depends on Maxwell Cornet’s fitness this weekend.

He wreaked havoc against Newcastle and I thought Burnley would go on to win. After he picked up his knock, their attack disappeared.

This is another big game for West Ham. They got a massive result against Chelsea last week and have been excellent this season.

West Ham have a big team and have been very strong at set-pieces. You need to defend well when you go to Burnley and I think David Moyes will pick up another victory here.”

Prediction: Burnley 0-2 West Ham United

Despite our own problems with injuries ClaretandHugh agrees with Merson and believes he’s spot on with a 0-2 result
