Hammers to cash in at Everton despite THAT record

It’s always wise to take injury news with a pinch if salt at this time of the week.

Football cubs and their local reporters play some silly games as they try to hide the likely team from the opposition but it really does seem this time that Everton have some pretty damaging issues for Sunday’s game.

We know for certain that Richarlison is out suspended and reports this morning claim that Seamus Coleman has a broken foot and that Phil Jagielka has been ruled out for Sunday.

Beyond thatĀ  Theo Walcott – with damaged ribs – is fifty/fifty to make it and there are up to nine other injuries being looked at!

Now, there are those, and I would normally be among them, who reckon it’s a bit off to be looking at the opposition’s problems when we should be caring more about our own game.

Quite right, but I think we can be allowed to enjoy the fact that we will almost certainly not be facing a full strength Everton – a club which has won moreĀ PL games against the Hammers (24) than any other club.

I don’t think they will beat us on on Sunday when I believe we will see the Hammers team emerging which we will be watching for most of the rest of the season.

Andriy Yarmolenko looks a cert to play for me along with Declan Rice, in front of the back four with Sanchez, allowing Jack Wilshere to push forward behind Felipe Anderson and Arnie.

With Fredericks, Balbuena, Diop and, probably, Masuaku along the back, that has the look of a balanced team to me with Rice available to slip into the back four when either of the two central defender bring the ball out as they like to.

The Hammers have often looked a different proposition away from home and produced their best football of the season at Arsenal – a repeat of that kind of form should be enough.

I’m going for a 2-0 Hammers win on the basis of being a supreme optimist but whichever way I look at this game, I don’t see the Hammers losing despite our awful record against the scousers.
