Hammers to pay 35pc of Snodgrass Villa wages

snoddy5West Ham will be forced to subsidise Robert Snodgrass’s wages following his move to Aston Villa this afternoon.

The Scotland international was finally reunited with his former boss from Hull days Steve Bruce after the Hammer hammered out a compromise deal with the Championship outfit.

It was thought Villa would only pay 50 per cent of the winger’s wages but ClaretandHugh has been told that our negotiators managed to push it up to 65 per cent.

And we understand that it has also been agreed that should Snodgrass help Villa back into the Premier League then he will be signed permanently.

The Hammers took the view that even the 35 per cent they would have to pay towards the deal was a better option than the player sitting at West Ham with no prospects of playing when there was a good “shop window” available for him at Villa Park.

  1. cheap at half the price, if they hadn’t wasted £12m on a panic buy they could have spent it on Carvalho… at least with Fonte we were genuinely short in the position, wingers we had an abundance of and he didn’t even play him on the left wing where he may have useful.

  2. The player himself says he prefers the right wing.

  3. Snod is a RWer he is inverted player and if we are going to loan him out surley like Slav said 1 in 1 out we need replacement other wise why pay 35% of his wages when Antonio is our only natural RW. Ayew isn’t good there and Fernanades trys but he is cm. Thought a move for Jota would happen. Why lessen our squad for no reason. Snod isn’t a bad player he WAS just bought for wrong reason AnD played out of position.
Bilic what are we doing think this squad is ok why not a CB
This Bjorn lad from Brugge is CB who can play DCM at 22yo 6’4 £8.5m why not give him a punt.
Bought Sead and didn’t even play him in cup game
