London-born keeper Wes Foderingham is set to join West Ham on a free transfer starting July 1.

The news won’t come as a surprise to West Ham fans, particularly given it comes on a day when the club have agreed to sell the younger Nathan Trott for £2m.

33-year-old Foderingham began his career in Fulham’s youth squad before moving on loan to Bromley. After being released by Fulham, Foderingham signed his first professional contract with Crystal Palace in 2010, and subsequently went on loan to Bromley, Histon, and Swindon Town.

Foderingham joined Swindon in 2011 and made headlines when he reacted angrily to his substitution, kicking a water bottle as he left the pitch and storming down the tunnel. His then-manager, former Hammer Paolo Di Canio, publicly criticized Foderingham after the game and claimed that if he did not apologize for his actions, he would be “out” of the club. Foderingham later issued an apology, which was accepted by Di Canio.

After making 152 appearances, Foderingham was released by Swindon in 2015 and joined Rangers on a three-year contract, making 112 appearances.

Following his release by Rangers in 2020, he joined Premier League club Sheffield United on a three-year contract, making 102 appearances.

Foderingham has represented England at various levels, including the U16s, U17s, and U19s.

His current contract with Sheffield United expires at the end of this month, with reports suggesting he earns a modest £12,500 per week with the Blades.

Foderingham admitted in a previous interview that he was a boyhood Newcastle United fan.

Sometimes feature on BBC Radio 5 Live and once ate a biscuit in Tony Gales shed.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.
