West Ham and Nottingham Forest are at the centre of a transfer tussle for Carlos Miguel. Reports from Brazil suggest the Reds are ready to trigger the Corinthians goalkeeper’s €4m release clause. Interest from Watford and an Italian side has also been reported, but a move to the City Ground was seen as his preferred choice.
However, there has been a new twist in the battle for his signature. Brazilian media outlet UOL reports that West Ham United has “entered the race.”
Forest is said to have a “verbal agreement” with the 25-year-old, giving them the “upper hand.” But the Hammers have expressed their willingness to meet Miguel’s release clause.
The report adds that West Ham “believes” they can outmanoeuvre Forest by offering better terms than their Premier League rivals. Corinthians’ attempts to retain him are said to have been “in vain.”
With Hammers director of football Tim Steidten still in Brazil, there could be some truth to these reports. Steidten is currently attempting to finalize the transfer for Brazilian wonderkid Luis Guilherme, with both Palmeiras and the player believed to have agreed terms.
The Hammers had also been linked with Sheffield United goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.
Christ, we’ve got goalkeeper’s falling out of our assholes already. Why buy another who doesn’t help our homegrown players dilemma?
Well said
He’s off to Forest anyway
indeed
he looked at our keepers and then looked at forest and rightly decided his path to starting here is years away
at forest he starts in the first game of the season
if he does that’s some bargain for 4m euro by forest
because both areola and fab have been injured for decent spells over the past 3 seasons
fabianski seems to be getting more injured these days and areola always seems to be out for a few weeks
we absolutely need a 3rd
