Hammers Unrealistic Zouma Transfer Hope

Reports that West Ham can expect a significant offer for defender Kurt Zouma are wide of the mark.

Numerous media outlets are reporting that the Hammers may be forced to consider selling their captain should they receive a transfer offer they can’t refuse. Unfortunately for the Irons and Zouma himself, the truth is somewhat different.

Far from being reluctant to sell the central defender, the Hammers hierarchy would likely accept any offer that would remove his wage from the balance sheet.

The former Chelsea defender has one year remaining on his current deal, and the club has no desire to negotiate another. The uncomfortable truth is that there are no clubs lining up to pay big money for Zouma, and it’s highly unlikely the player would pass a medical given the condition of his knees.

Therefore, if the club is waiting on a huge transfer fee for Zouma to persuade them to sell, it’s not going to happen. There was never likely to be any resale value on a player who had a poor fitness record when the Irons paid £30 million to Chelsea for his services.

The only hope that remains is that a cash-rich Saudi club pays over the odds for a player who would struggle to complete a full season.

I’ll drive him wherever he wants to go!

  • mark wiggins says:

Taxi for Zouma , I would take what we can get hopefully a Saudi club will take him!

  • Jeeps says:

    Hardly surprising.
Why would you by a cart horse when you need a greyhound.
Captain Zoom(a) only maintained his position due to old mucker Moyes.

  • John Ayris says:

Zouma is too immobile for this level now. I can’t see there being any takers given his wage. Most likely he’ll be around for a year until he’s out of contract.

  • Pessimist says:

I could still see a French club wanting him.

  • Wayne says:

One of the worst signings at West Ham that I can remember and I’ve seen some really bad ones in 43 years but I still can’t understand why we got him in the first place.

Poor player and never a captain either.

Let him go on a free and just get rid
