Hammers v Brighton – the first prediction

|

Mark Lawrenson gives the Hammers an edge over Brighton on Sunday although it all seems a bit grudging given  the Seasiders lowly Premier League position.

The Irons will be going into the game desperate to get back to winning ways after the Chelsea excursion which saw them perform better than the home side in every area for long periods except the one that matters – in front of goal.

Albion’s stats are poor having not won a game in their last five although they have two wins to their name having taken three points from away games at Villa and at Newcastle.

Beyond that they have drawn six and lost six!

There’s a danger sign there and that makes this a worrying game. In the end though Lawro goes with the Hammers who look certain to start the game as favourites to collect three points and maintain their top ten position in the Premier League.

Discussing the match on his BBC website column Lawrenson says: This is a tough one to call because you know that Brighton play some good football without really hurting teams.

West Ham have been playing some decent stuff too, but have gone a couple of games without winning.

I’m going to go with the Hammers, though, mainly because there is a chance that Michail Antonio could be available after his hamstring injury.

If you don’t know lawro is a mate of Moyes. So he’s more inclined to tip West Ham to win than anything.
