Hammers v Gooners – the fans react

The Hammers produced what many believe was their best performance of the season – given the opposition – yesterday. Here,  Claret and Hugh followers give their view on the match.

  • Well what an exciting game! Words we could never have believed in after 10 minutes.
  • I wouldn’t say it was our best game of the season because I’m always going to prefer a game where we win four nil or something over a draw. However it was up there because if the situation we were in in the first ten minutes going two down.
  • Terrible first 25 minutes but then Rice clawed us back into the game Gerrard style. The defence was shocking and they looked like had just met. Antonio ran at the Arsenal defence with great fire In his belly. 2nd half we matched them with better organisation with Moyes listening to Rice. Great Bowen goal and we deserved the point. But we got that despite of Moyes not because.
  • Strange to say but going two down was the key. It allowed us to break out of the usual defensive mode and go for it.
  • Possibly the best performance of the best performances of the season in the the PL. Much better but you still have to ask how much better it would be with a Fornals or Lanzini in midfield.

Biggest surprise for me is why has it taken game no 30 for us to rediscover our spirit and style of .much of previous two years?
It’s nothing to do with David Moyes, to me the players suddenl realised that 2 down after 10 minutes was completely unacceptable and decided to fight. Coufal was my man of match, he was often raising his arms to get us the crowd equally motivated. It worked and greatxatmostpher with us and team as one. Need to repeat for remaining games!
