Andy Madley (right) has been named as the ref when West Ham United receive Manchester City to London Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Madley has been on the Select Group 1 Referees list since 2019 and  officiated the EFL League One Play-Off final between Preston North End and Swindon Town in 2015 as well as the 2019 League One Play-Off final between Charlton Athletic and Sunderland.

Having made his Premier League debut as a referee in the 2017/18 campaign, Madley has served mainly as a Premier League official since 2019/20 and has taken charge of three league matches so far this campaign; Newcastle’s opening day win over Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion’s victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the draw between Sheffield United and Everton.

Madley took charge of one West Ham Premier League game last season, when the Irons were beaten 2-1 away at Chelsea last September.

Assistant referees will be Harry Lennard and Nick Hopton. Hopton has worked with Madley in all three Premier League matches so far this campaign, while Lennard completed the trio for Everton’s draw at Sheffield United.

He has also been an assistant referee in Nottingham Forest’s home win over the Blades and Manchester United’s victory versus Forest.

Fourth official duties will be undertaken by Thomas Bramall, who has been a Premier League-level referee since 2022. Bramall was the main official for Liverpool’s home win against Bournemouth in August, and also refereed West Ham’s FA Cup fourth round win away to Derby County in January.

Video Assistant Referee responsibilities will be overseen by Darren Bond on Saturday. An experienced official across the EFL, Bond refereed Brentford’s 3-0 win at Fulham in August.
