Hammers victory hailed

West Ham United U23s head coach Steve Potts was delighted as his team ended their trip to Slovakia with a 3-1 win over FC Humenne.

Marcus Browne, Ajibola Alese and Jordan Hugill grabbed a goal apiece making it two wins from two for the young Hammers.

And Potts commented: “It was a very good performance to end our trip to Slovakia. We started the game okay and it just got better from there. I thought the second half was excellent. We totally dominated it and got a few more goals. We were unfortunate at the end in conceding but on the whole, it was fantastic.

“The first goal was some real good build-up play, a good lay off, and the through-ball, and Marcus got into the box to finish it off. It was a really good goal, and all three had quality about them.

Saturday’s victory means the U23s come away from Slovakia with wins in both their games after bearing FC Kosice 2-1 earlier in the week.

Potts added: “I just feel we added a bit more quality today. We were good on the ball and were nice and solid defensively. As a team, we worked well. Attacking-wise, we added that little bit extra today.”
