The Premier League has still given no indication as to whether the weekend fixtures will get the go ahead following the Queen’s death and ahead of the former monarch’s funeral on Monday.
Beyond declaring that a statement will be made in due course the League’s bosses have retained a silence although EFL fixtures will return tomorrow night (Tues).
Most insiders believe that the League will ultimately decide to play the games although as we revealed last week there remains no certainty over the London games given policing considerations.
Three games are set to be held in London this weekend – Tottenham v Leicester, Brentford v Arsenal and Chelsea v Liverpool .
However, with the Hammers due to meet Everton at Goodison Park the club look set for their usual two games in four days agenda as has been the case since their European involvement,
The ceremony for the Queen, and the four days of lying-in-state proceeding it, will put pressures on the police forces and other emergency services.
As such, those three matches are all in doubt and a further update from the Premier League is expected early this week.
Brighton v Crystal Palace on Saturday had already been postponed due to rail strikes but it remains to be seen if this will be reversed as industrial action has been called off.
It will also be confirmed soon if games in other parts of the country will go ahead with the main logistically issues coming in the capital.
