Hammers waiting on Moyes’ target – report

West Ham are waiting for a final decision from Jesse Lingard over his future, Sky Sports reports.

The Hammers are said to have made a formal offer to sign the free agent, who has departed Manchester United at the end of his contract.

The Irons have twice tried to sign Lingard since he went back to United after his loan and he has twice rejected the switch.

David Moyes remains a fan of the player, though, and would like to bring him to the club.

Sky reports that the offer has been tabled and that the Hammers feel it is an adequate bid that Lingard could accept.

However, he has yet to make a final decision over his future, leaving the club on tenterhooks.

There are other clubs attempting to sign Lingard on a free transfer, too, so it is simply a waiting game at this stage.

Lingard has been on holiday in the USA.

  1. Considering it’s a free transfer it’s a no brainer. Still not quite forgiven lingard for scoring against us for Man U. That point they gained on us was the difference in us getting conference league instead of europa. It would be worth signing him though just for the possibility that he could play for us and score against Man U this year.

    • How can you say its a no brainer……….
The guy is a mercenary after one last hoorah…..
If he really wanted to join us he would of done so in January……..
He has no future value to the club what soever & quite frankly there must be more to it the fact that he couldn’t get in an absolutely abismal Man Utd team….. Moyes is obsessed with Lingard which is really a worry if we are going to bow down to his wage demands & in the process let Soucek go because Moyes will not give him improved terms.
Moyes needs to be removed from all transfer dealings A.S.A.P & concentrate on what he does best which is coaching

  2. It just drags on and on , he’s had enough time to choose he either wants to join or he don’t ! Moyes cannot keep waiting , if he chooses another team we could be missing out on other targets . Let’s get the striker sorted as not sure Chelsea will let Borja go cheap . It’s a worrying situation , pull your finger our Moyes !

  3. Who’s making the decisions on transfers? I thought it was Moyes but apparently Sully is still doing it.One minute Danjuma is coming then Moyes has a row cos he now don’t want him.Apparently Moyes is waiting on 1 player,Lingard, who hasn’t been able to make up his mind since January. It’s getting boring now and the longer Moyes dithers the more targets he’s gonna miss.

  4. Lingards on holiday in America. Perhaps he doesn’t fancy preseason training in cold Scotland. As a free agent you can’t blame him for taking his time over his decision after all he is now leaving what some still consider the biggest club in the world for the first time as a free agent. The deal might already be wrapped up with Moyes as far as we know and the club is just waiting for him to return to uk after his holiday. Or he’s in America checking out an mls club hes had an offer from. Who knows. One thing for sure it won’t not happen because of workaholic Moyes not trying to get his man. If it breaks down it will be for financial reasons with the club not offering enough dosh in wages.
