Hammers want Alvarez teammate to solve crisis

Hammers want Alvarez teammate to replace Antonio

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez as Tim Steidten seeks to replace the out-of-form Danny Ings. The pursuit for a goal-scorer has heightened following injuries to both Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen.

Tottenham has also been strongly linked with Gimenez for an extended period, so we could have competition for the player’s signature. The accuracy of the speculation remains uncertain, but an increase in transfer rumours can be almost guaranteed given West Ham’s injury crisis with forwards.

The Mexico international joined Feyenoord in July 2022 and has progressively become a key player for the Dutch club. Born in Argentina, Gimenez opted to represent Mexico, where he plays alongside West Ham’s Edson Alvarez.

The Hammers have been regularly linked with the strikers Feyenord head coach Arne Slot. The Dutchman is one of the main contenders to replace David Moyes when his contract ends later this season.

In fine form this season, the Mexican striker has impressively scored 13 goals in just 12 league appearances so far.

  1. Would be a great signing but won’t come cheap given he signed a new 4 year contract in August. Another problem is he’s only 22 so will have to wait years before Moyes could consider giving him a start.
