Hammers: “We will not deal with PAI whatever they bid”

CandH Exclusive

West Ham’s refusal to accept a takeover bid from PAI Capital was this afternoon confirmed by the club.

And an insider – speaking exclusively to ClaretandHugh – declared that despite a statement from the group hoping things may change,  the club would never be sold to the group.

In their statement PAI claim that a second bid has been made but that was also disputed with our source claiming that nobody had seen such an offer.

And when ClaretandHugh asked PAI spokesman Tony Cottee for sight of the bid he explained: “The bid was made but we can’t make it public – that’s not the way things are done.”

He added:  Our statement on the situation says it all and there is nothing I can add to that. We are delighted at the way things are going on the field for the club but wish things were different off it.

However, things can change and we will be ready to pursue things if David Sullivan were to change his mind about selling the club.”

Our Hammers source added however: “Its been made clear the club will not deal with PAI whatever they bid as they are property people, not football people and unsuitable custodians of WHU.

Additionally, the club can’t deal with people who conduct their negotiations via the media.

All of this forgets that the club is in the best shape its been in for decades and we have a very good team that will give any club a run for its money.

Nobody has a will to  sell the club, but as we’ve always said we’d welcome co investors to spread the load.”

  1. Off to Manchester then for Mr Rio Ferdinand ? As for Cottee least said me thinks. Did well though now didnt they ?

  2. There are various levels of footballing Legends at our club and Tony Cottee has taken some of the shine out of his legend status. He signed up for this, didn’t think it through and is now having to wear the make-up of a clown in public. He should’ve left this spokesperson lark to Bosh Skinner and Rio.
All of a sudden it is now all about confidentiality when that is precisely what it should have been about in the first place. Luckily for us supporters, PAI didn’t conduct their business in a proper manner, which then left them exposed to public scrutiny. It’s a bit like someone banging on your front door demanding to buy your house, whilst bad-mouthing you to all of your neighbours.
How some supporters backed this bid, when it was clear to most that this lot were rank amateurs…..I’ll NEVER know.
PAI will now disappear into the shadows and do what they do best, waiting to take advantage of any investment opportunities that come their way.
As supporters enjoying this West Ham, we didn’t need this random outfit clouding our blue skies, so to see this nonsense end now, I’d like to say… Bye-PAI……… PAI.
