Hammers well fancied to stay out of trouble

Wilshere is very much a Pellegrini ‘pick’

West Ham are as safe as houses from relegation this season according to the nation’s bookies despite their double defeats at the start of the season.

The 4-0 defeat at Anfield and 2-1 home revers against Bournemouth has done nothing to dent confidence in the team staying well out of the drop zone this season.

And Manuel Pellegrini is as big as 12/1 in some places to hold onto his job this term.

The Hammers are  as long as 15/2  with some bookies to remain in the Premier League and no shorter that 9/2 in others.

Neil Warnock’s Cardiff City are big favourites for the drop at between 8/13 and 4/9 with Hunddersfield, Fulham and Manchester United conquerors, Brighton and Hove Albion, among the other fancied teams to take to drop.

Huddersfield’s odds range between 6/5 to 8/13, Fuham’s 15/8 to 14/5 and Brighton’s 9/4 to 13/5.

  1. That’s ok, then. Will sleep easier tonight…………

  2. If we keep setting up like we have been we look like we could lose every game, got to change the formation and become solid, certainly enough talent going forward but without the right balance we are not standing a chance. Rice our best centre half play him there.
Arthur can’t play left back full stop! Play Ogbonna there if cresswell is out at least he’s a defender.
Wilshere and noble look like the telly tubbies in the middle, just one please.
Three centre halves is best suited to our squad
Get the basics right and the quality of the squad will shine through if not we will struggle

  3. I must admit to hoping Man City would keep scoring on Sunday to keep us off the bottom

The only odds that I can look at are on Sky Bet – and they have dropped since our two bad defeats

The only way to ensure that we remain in the Premier League is to start getting some points – whatever happens to Cardiff, Huddersfield and other teams

  4. Blimey, 2 games in and we are already looking around us for three worse teams! Same old, same old.

CD and CM no better than last year. At least not yet. Pelli needs to tell us why he isn’t playing Diop as thats the biggest worry.

  5. I watched Cp v Scousers. CP were good. What I have been asking for over the last two years from us. Well organised, working to a clear plan, committed players. they are not a team of stars (Zaha maybe but he didn’t do a lot). They have money but probably not much different to our lot in that respect. They lost but they fought all the way, even when they went behind & went down to ten men. I am sure that if we could match that -& we are at present a long way short- the fans would respond.

It occurred to me after the game this is a team made by two men -Big Sam & Woy. They have base it around solid defence & hard work. Personally, sad though it is, I think that in the modern PL the lesser teams that hold their own use much the same template. And the football they were playing last night was good to watch.

  6. I agree with you totally Bardy..
Masuaku is being wasted playing at left back.. play him as a wing back, as a link between the left attacking midfielder or left winger-his darting runs and accurate passing will yield dividends!

  7. Well said Hammer64 I really think stability is very important – but probably a bit late now that the board (or Sully) decided to go down the route of the expansive / expensive manager

Well Pelle now is the time to show us what you have
