Hammers will head to Arsenal with “double” trouble

By Hughie Southon

West Ham are again in a position where everything is crossed as Nayef Aguerd bids to be fit for the opening Premier League game against Arsenal on Boxing Day.

The club was relieved that the Moroccan team chiefs rested him after he picked up a low profile thigh injury against Spain.

And with a maximum of three weeks expected for him to fully recover there are hopes that he may be ready to play some part in the game.

However, it’s unlikely to be as part of the starting eleven given his absence from any sort of action.

And given that he is not due to return to Rush Green until December 23 he is far more likely to be seen for the game against Brentford on December 30th.

With Kurt Zouma not expected back until mid January that means David Moyes will be forced to field a makeshift central defence against the Gooners with Dawson and Kehrer probably the duo centrally responsible for handling a team which has scored 33 goals this season!
