Hammers win one and draw one

West Ham beat Ipswich Town tonight and drew with Boreham Wood.

The squad was split into two for the concurrent friendlies, which both took place on Tuesday evening.

The most notable part of both fixtures was the return of Angelo Ogbonna, who enjoyed a run-out as a substitute against Boreham Wood, eight months after sustaining a serious injury against Liverpool.

The game ended 1-1, with Said Benrahma’s opening goal cancelled out by Will Evans.

It was a very young side, with a number of academy players given a chance to play.

The Irons had better luck against Ipswich, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Kurt Zouma and Dan Chesters.

Kane Vincent-Young did score for Ipswich but the Irons were able to see the win out.

Flynn Downes, signed last week from Swansea, made his first appearance in a claret and blue shirt against the Tractor Boys, while the likes of Armstrong Okoflex, Mikey Antonio, and Lukasz Fabianski all got minutes under their belts.

  1. Good to see Conor Coventry having another very good game in midfield. He has looked assured in both friendlies so far and appears to have added more aggression to his game. Hopefully this will help convince Moyes of his worth to the squad.
