Hammers window targets so average

|

McTominay

There has been much talk – and quite rightly too – about the fact we have signed absolutely nobody in transfer window and things continue to move very slowly.

That is a worry but an even bigger concern is the players David Moyes wants or wanted to bring in – James Ward-Prowse, Conor Gallagher, Scott McTominay and various others.

They all have one thing in common – they are not players who will take us on to the heights we want to reach and represent nothing other than average Premier League players who in one case was relegated last term

Are these really players who are going to carry us up the top six places the manager has told us he sees the Hammers reaching.

We have lost a world class player in Declan Rice and seemingly are preparing to bring in journeymen with nothing else to recommend them than that they have actually played in the top league.

Where’s the ambition, where is the scouting programme. Nowhere to be seen it appears and it really isn’t good enough from a club which claims to have lofty ambitions.

Who would you suggest then, givee us some names?
Seeing as probably only JWP would be the one that it ssems is the only target likey will join us, the others don’t want to?
IMO he’s going after unrealistc tagets again that don’t actually want to join the club like Gallagher, Maguire. Why is he going for them and wasting time on them, move on.

Fair enough it’s your opinion but I don’t understand the logic. just because ward prowse got relegated doesn’t make him a bad player for us. Craig Dawson was relegated with Watford but did alright for us the following season. He was the best player in a poor team but couldn’t save them. No more than the likes of paulo dicanio or Trevor Brooking could save us from relegation.

My apologies if I missed the point you was making but I’m afraid I don’t know who you’re talking about then. Who got relegated exactly? I didn’t think McTominay had been on loan I thought he was a one club-man through the Man U academy. Same with ward prowse certainly not a multi club journeyman, thought he was a one club-man also, the mark noble of Southampton. So you must be talking about Gallagher maybe who came through Chelsea’s academy but has been out on loan a few times? The last loan of which was to Crystal Palace where he played fantastically well and was awarded player of the season. But maybe you’re talking about another player?

    • Gallagher on loan,I don’t know if he was fantastic. I watch West Ham Ward-Prowse relegated, and if not good enough for Chelsea why would we want West Ham. My point remains. West Ham can’t reach the heights as Moyes anticipates without better players than these

If you don’t like Moyes and you perceive them to be Moyes signings then maybe you’re going to turn your nose up at them but I actually think they’re all good quality proven premier league and international players.

    • U have completely missed the point. I don’t believe people who have been out on loan, have won nothing and been relegated are players who will take us up the league whether they are bought by Moyes or anyone else. Your admiration of Moyes is well and good but try to see beyond that to the point being made

It’s not Moyes that lacks ambition………..it’s the club. Always has been. With the successes of the mid-60’s teams and the development of young players around that time, there was a huge opportunity for the club to be invested in and grow! But it wasn’t taken.

Very well said and reflective of many of our feelings.

  • Pav says:

I agree it’s so boring and predictable seeing these names. I disagree about Gallagher though, I think out of all the players mentioned he would be a positive signing. The others I would agree are average Joe’s especially when you consider how much their clubs are asking

So disillusioned with the club.Either Sullivan is past it or Moyes is still dithering or both.

  • Austrick says:

No doubt we’ll hear the excuses when we sign Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck before the window shuts. Actually both are too old to be playing football. Maybe replacements for DM and the DOF.

  • Clive says:

    Journeymen lol.

Moyes lacks ambition you mean , so poor

Let’s hope the board read this article as it is quite clearly representing the majority of fans. Going to matches watching these players just does not do it.
