Hammers won’t go back for summer target

Olivier-Giroud1West Ham will refuse the temptation to make another summer move for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud after doing their best to bring him to the London Stadium in the summer.

There has been some speculation that with our interest in Theo Walcott now well known, the Hammers could decide to go in for Giroud as part of a double swoop.

But such a move was firmly ruled out when ClaretandHugh made inquiries into the possibility late last night (Sat).

The French striker was high on the club’s wanted list in the summer but although there is the possibility of Diafra Sakho moving on this winter Giroud is not seen as a replacement.

We were told: “Giroud didn’t and doesn’t want to come to us –  we tried for six weeks last summer. He made it clear  he’d stay at Arsenal or go back to France or Everton. We were his fourth choice!”
