West Ham won’t panic in the January transfer window despite Angelo Ogbonna’s injury woe.
The defender is set to be ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining an ACL injury against Liverpool at the weekend.
However, there is a confidence at the club that there is no need to buy a new centre-back for David Moyes, despite the setback.
Indeed, the Hammers boss brought on Craig Dawson as his replacement against Liverpool and the former Watford centre-back was exceptional, with Oggy’s absence barely noticed.
It is likely that Dawson will be called upon to replace Ogbonna in the heart of the defence but there is also the potential of using Issa Diop in that role.
There are options for Moyes and there is no feeling that a trolley dash is required, as so few top players are available in the January window and it would be next to impossible to actually strengthen the squad further, particularly in defence.
