Hammers work on complex Jenks deal

|

jenkinson1West Ham are working hard to outflank Sunderland with a complex offer that would see them grab Carl Jenkinson on a further year-long loan next season.

Sunderland were believed to be in the driving seat to conclude  deal for the right back after reports emerged they were ready to pay a £2 million loan fee plus the player’s  wages.

However, these are much lower than might have been expected for an England under-21 at a reported £32k a week and are well within the Irons compass.

ClaretandHugh has learned that we remain very much in the hunt and are ready to pay the £2 million loan fee so long as we get the first option on a permanent move next summer or when Arsenal are ready to sell.

Jenkinson is believed to be helping the cause by making it clear he would be far happier staying in London than moving to the north east.

He wouldn’t hesitate to return to the Boleyn where Arsene Wenger has been particularly impressed with the progress he made as a result of getting regular first team football.

Whinger is so impressed he’s getting shot of him again

  • TysonM says:

Yeah, just get him back in,2m,peanuts these days.Drop in the ocean.Just do it 😉

  • TysonM says:

If we can pay 2.5m in wages to Nolaninho a year then paying 2m for Jenks on loan for the season is nothing 😉

  • bubs says:

Get done quick or move on,we need a right back,

  • Dangermouses Bros says:

    Sign him,no messing about.We know what were getting.2m,pay up,jobs a good’un! Boom!!!!

  • Quickdraw Slaven a party says:

When other players really want to move you hear the words there’s nothing the club can do to stop him, maybe it’s time we heard how much he wants to play for us.

  • bubs says:

Said yesterday why would he want to live any where near Sunderland for a season,
Arsenal are trying it on,if we walk away they will be begging in the end,
They want to sell but they are trying to push the price up,
Man up Carl tell Wenger you are going unless he give you first team playing time

Couldn’t agree more. I don’t know why he doesn’t slap in a transfer request and make Arsenal commit to him or otherwise. Wenger is so bloody smug.

  • Spoonie says:

Super Slavs Claret & Blue Army!! Get Jenks. If we dont another club will,he will have plenty of offers.Dont think if we dont take him he will be unwanted. To believe if we dont take him Arsenal will be screwed isnt going to happen.Arsenal hold the aces not us.Dont believe we hold the cards here.Total opposite.Jenks wont put in a transfer request,he wants to prove himself at Arsenal. You may want him to put in a transfer request but why should he.He is a Gooner at heart!

  • Quickdraw Slaven a party says:

Good points Spoonie, nice to know your views. If they’re accurate I say we move on and don’t be a feeder club for ambitious gooners, plenty more RBs around

  • johnham1 says:

What is wrong with everyone, he is limited – better full backs out there. I would not be rushing to sign him.

  • TysonM says:

Wow!!! Spoonie speaks, hahaha 😀 And you speak sense, lol.Totally agree.Arsenal dont need to get rid of him,can do what they want with him.Aint heard Jenks making any noises about being unhappy or needing to leave. He will be quite happy with another loan.As you say,he is a gooner. He wont want to leave there yet.I think he will be quite happy to just be loaned out again but still be a gooner 😉

  • TysonM says:

Fuxk me John has landed to get his Jenks dig in,lol 😀

  • essexclarets says:

Sign him quickly. Something wasn’t working in defence last season. You look at each player & most would say they are all good players. Put them together & ????? what happened..?
Cresswell, Jenks & Reid I feel are right, not convinced we have a perfect 4th man.
We need a really strong experienced leader to boss that line. Don’t know who that man is though.

  • Rads says:

Hippo happened, let a team have the possesion they are going to be battering your door down.If you have 32% posession in matches then your defence are going to busy no matter who you are.Tbh we only have pretty average central defenders.New Zealand Captain,Welsh 32yr old & Tomkins who hasnt really ever looked like getting into the England squad. We need a proper leader in defence.Someone to get them playing as a unit. You watch them in matches there is none of them that really leads them.Too quiet. We need a real vocal leader in defence imho 😉

  • essexclarets says:

Reid is good enough, ginge nope, tonks nope, need to spend on at least 2 top cb’s

  • Rads says:

Reid is yeah, but i was just saying what we have at our disposal,it is pretty limited. We have many cbs,but none of really quality apart from Reid maybe 😉

  • Quickdraw Slaven a party says:

Blimey we only need Kevin to make it a real night of nostalgia lol.
As for the defence firstly if he wants to remain a gooner or if the South London rejects want to play hard ball let them do it with someone else. Secondly I think Reid looked suspect last season but can improve and all the CBs need to work on their distribution. You’d have to have a world class back four to withstand the possession rads quoted which was down to BFSs tactic (plan A). I’ve not heard any link to a leader so I think Slav may motivate from within.
Blimey this is all very serious are there no Rav or BFS brown nose stories to distract us? Lol

  • mattefumi15 says:

ahah… Spoonie you have shocked me… you are a revelation… You remind me the father of Ben Stiller in the movie “Along Came Polly”… he never said a word but at the end of the movie he said something that completely astonished everybody. lol 😀

  • Quickdraw Slaven a party says:

Henry is still an unknown quantity and if anyone can improve Tomkins it’s Slav,Rio certainly rated him that way

  • boys of '66 says:

Spot on,think we do need a quality cb or two. What we have are average prem players.Reid is good,Collins is a warrior but limited,Tomkins is just Tomkins, lol. We have youngsters but not ready for next season.Would love a real leader in the back four.

  • bubs says:

It’s not just Henry you have Burke and Oxford as well and Kouyate has proved he can play there to,that’s 6 and if Corluka signs as well I think we might just cover 2 places,
I know you are saying but are they good enough, problem the ones that are better are going to take all your transfer kitty,
Don’t know his name but the lad with the pony tail that plays for Lillie is the best I have seen plus the lad at Valencia going to Man U

  • whambam says:

So what’s the actual cost of Jenks then? £2 million loan fee is £40k a week + wages, anyone know what the wages are?

  • wjo1974 says:

I still think this is all an Arsenal ploy for us to say, stuff the £2m loan we might as well stump up the £8 – £10m to buy him outright. He is going to be 4th choice at best and he knows it Wenger knows it so he is doing this so we buy him and not loan him and the Sunderland link is to force our hand. Why would anyone pay £2m for a year when we can buy him for around £8 and get a young U21 international on a long term contract?

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

If we can’t get Jenks we should go for Trippier who has a bright future, good defender and good distribution.
