Hammers young guns shine

OxfordReece Oxford was involved in wins on the international stage on Thursday night re-affirming the first team future many believe is months away.

He was used as a late sub for theĀ England U17s as they finished off their UEFA U17 Championship qualifying campaign with a 2-1 win against Romania.

Sean Maguire was also a sub in the Republic of Ireland U21s’ 1-0 victory over Andorra.

MaguireThe official website reports that Maguire’s late run-out became his first cap at Under-21 level as the young Irish got their qualification matches for the 2017 UEFA U21 Championship off to a winning start.

Oxford was on the bench after two wins from two had already clinched England U17’s place in this summer’s finals tournament.

He had scored in Monday’s 3-1 win against Slovenia and helped see out the 2-1 win against Romania.
