The transfer window hasn’t even opened officially yet – with six games still due in this season’s Premier League – but players are in negotiations with clubs already, ahead of deals being discussed between their owners leading upto the 1st June starting gun.
Decisions will need to be taken by Graham Potter regarding several of his key players – whether to stick or twist and retain or sell. Following the winter about-face which took place over a sale of Luis Guilherme it is difficult to predict what Potter’s reaction will be to an improved offer expected from Feyenoord, reported by 1908.nl.
Particularly factoring in the unknown future of Mohammed Kudus and the still-injured Crysencio Summerville, Potter is likely to push this one into the ‘don’t know’ category and hedge like mad until later in the window. Feyenord have apparently already been rolling up their sleeves:
In their report, 1908 refer to two players, one being:
“Luis Guilherme (19), the left-handed right winger of West Ham United. The Brazilian received an improved personal offer from the Rotterdammers this week. If these conditions match, Feyenoord will soon formally contact West Ham again to discuss a rental deal. Feyenoord wishes to include an option to buy. This option should then be lower than its current estimated market value of nineteen million euros.”
Especially considering The Hammers’ “wonderkid” is starting to get more game time under Potter and does not look out of his depth, it will be a tricky call, and probably not a popular decision of West Ham do decide to loan out or sell the young Guilherme.
And right now, Potter needs all the boosts to his own popularity that he can muster.
First , Westham need to sack Potter then second , bring in a coach that knows how to score more goals than he concedes then third , get a decent DOF and then fourth , sort out the players . Guilherme has pace and power to bust open defenses , but needs some real time to get some confidence and it’s looking almost certain that Paqueta and Kudus will leave , therefore Westham need some young talent .
Even with little playing time his potential has been recognised.
Potter has chosen to play him up front although his best area, apparently, is mid attack.
Can’t be disputed that lack of goals has become a problem.
Home grown status is a bonus and he should stay.
If it’s decided to send him out on loan no obligation to buy should be included.
His value is a subject of much discussion at present and future.
Will he become a £40m player?
Potter’s talking about blooding the youngsters, so why not give them all a chance in the last five games we’ve got. ???? lets face it they cant play much worse than sum are playing right now. potters done give scarle’s a good go and he’s proved himself. give Guilherme the same chance of sum minutes. and Earthy and whatever youngsters are coming through like Potts. give um a go guys….. C O Y I’s.
Cheers Paul.
