Hammers youngster can save us millions

Krisztian Hegyi

Alphonse Areola has been amazing in the opening games of the season and looks set – should things continue the same way – to have nailed the No 1 spot.

It means of course that we are almost certainly seeing Lukasz Fabianski in his last season after five seasons and 171 Hammers appearances behind him.

Fab was a great buy from Swansea at £7 million and has often been the difference between victory and defeat for the team. We owe him.

However, fair pay to Alphonse having grabbed his chance with both hands – and while on the subject he sometimes drops the ball with them LOL – he has made a series of fine saves and interventions and is always in charge when things get tricky when it’s required.

Thankfully, it seems with several young stoppers on our books it seems unlikely that we will need to go into the window for a Number Two.

Hugarian Krisztián Hegyi – currently on loan at League One club Stevenage – is the favourite to step up to the No 2 position.

He received several offers from high profile clubs around Europe before he joined the Hammers where during last season was the first-choice goalkeeper and occasional captain for the club’s U21 side.

Hopefully he going to save us a few millions!
