West Ham United have firmly ruled out the possibility of selling Edson Alvarez this summer. The club has made it clear that the Mexican midfielder is a key part of their plans and is not for sale unless an “exceptional offer” is received.
The response from the Hammers has come as a result of leaked reports that a number of clubs could be looking to recruit the midfielder as the transfer window closes.
Despite inquiries from other clubs, West Ham remains committed to retaining Alvarez. His importance to the team was evident in the opening game against Aston Villa, where his absence was keenly felt.
The Mexican – like fellow ex-Ajax team-mate Mohammed Kudus – has been a revelation since arriving in East London last summer, and the Hammers would be shooting themselves in the foot if they allow him to move on after just 12 months.
His defensive solidity, passing range, and ability to contribute to attacking play have been a huge asset, although his tendency to collect silly bookings remain.
Whether West Ham’s stance will dissuade the likes of Manchester United remains to be seen.
Just leave the non-story alone.
He’s not for sale, for the love of God move on.
I really believe, we are going to pay for signings made before transfer window closes with all deadwood still at club and us losing players fans would liked to have been kept.
Divin going to City, seems like another error of judgement. As with Ben johnson
So he’s not for sale. But…….
There’s ambition for you, complaining about what is universally accepted as a fantastic window completed expeditiously.
Mubama is never going to make the grade and Johnson would forever be a bench-warmer at best.
What exactly is it that you DO want? To retain players who are not capable of improving the club out of blind loyalty, I don’t get the argument at all!?
Alvarez isn’t going . Some of the media seems aghast about the club looking to better itself . Certain clubs ambition is applauded but not here .
For heavens sake, give JLo and Tim breathing
Space, the board have done almost all of what JLo wanted, now let him blend and mould the team to their pattern of play..
