Hard to forget McCarthy’s Irons ‘previous’

|

It’s hard not to agree with a  majority of people inside the club that James McCarthy targeted Dimi Payet on Saturday.

Indeed the one who put his head over the parapet publicly – not surprisingly -was David Sullivan jnr who tells it as it is and even ran a poll on social media posing that very question.

He tweeted: ” Very dirty tackle in my opinion. Was he going in for the ball or purely to hurt Payet ?”

As we reported last night with over 3,000 votes cast already 73% believe he was out to hurt Payet while only 27% believe he attempted to go for the ball.

It seems unbelievable, looking at the video replay the horror scissor tackle, that the player stayed on the pitch and there remains the strongest possible feeling amongst West Ham officials that McCarthy targeted Payet.payet1

The midfielder has a history of dangerous tackles on their players and last season he was involved in a brawl with Morgan Amalfitano who had been crunched by the Everton hard man

H its personal if you are a Hammer,
The English football world has been robbed of a great talent, his whole career could be over just because a talentless moron did what he is paid to do by his club,
He had instructions to take Payet out of th game and he probably got his bonus this week,
As a fan who wants to be entertained every week McCarthy has stolen from me because
He is a unintelligent human ( I say that but human is wide from the mark )
If someone went up to his partner and kicked and broke there leg tonight he would be screaming, what he did in front of thousands of people watching was GBH
What’s the difference he is a paid assassin
Well done McCarthy you are such a big man

agreed on the loss of a talent. I’ve even read an article yesterday where spuds fans were bemoaning his loss for the derby game as they were looking forward to seeing him in the flesh. for the love of the game. quite unexpected response and testament to the idiocy of the everton faithful who can see no wrong in McCarthy’s tackle.

Actually there’s no need to make it personal, but open and consistent: Scissor tackles should be banned, who performs a scissor tackle gets a straight red, a minimum ban of five games (or the length of the injury of the fouled player if appropriate.) and no exceptions to be made.

Players will soon stop doing scissor tackles.

we should not just let this go… i want McCarthy’s name dragged through mud until it sticks and every referee knows that this dirty ******* has that side to his game.

For me there is an even bigger issue. The FA say that can’t take retrospective action if the referee took action at the time; in this case, a yellow. So even if a wrong decision is made according to the letter of the law, what’s done is done.

The message that this sends out is that they are only concerned with making sure that their own rules are upheld. Not that a referee has under performed. Not that a player has suffered an injury. Not that a club’s earnings could be severely impacted by the loss of a key player.

Could somebody please tell me how the FA are advancing the game of football (surely one of their remits?) when this hard and fast, black and white approach is being taken. Surely they have a responsibility beyond ‘ there’s nothing we can do if a card is shown’.

  • HamburgHammer says:

Thing is: If the FA are saying this has been dealt with in a satisfactory manner by the ref on the pitch during the game and NOT take retrospective action for the scissor tackle they are actually conveying the persuasion as if scissor tackles are alright and can be sufficiently punished by showing a yellow card.

Hence it should be possible in future to get a red card rescinded if a player now receives a red card after scissor tackling an opponent, risking a potentially career ending injury to said player.

The FA has no choice really, they either have to retroactively punish McCarthy for his scissor tackle or reprimand the referee. Otherwise this will come back to haunt the FA.

Have the FA looked at the tackle & yellow with a view to a retrospective red? I don’t understand if this isn’t happening. School of Science my ****. Back to the bad old days of watching Duncan Ferguson thump his way through a game. Ugly approach to the game & shameful. If Lukaku or Stones were to suffer a similar injury I would mutter “justice”.

If Lukaku or Stones had suffered such an injury, you wouldn’t be able to hear yourself for whinging Scousers…
