“He Must Be Buzzing” | Paqueta’s New West Ham Lease of Life

I can only begin to imagine just how delighted West Ham midfielder Lucas Paquetá must have been upon hearing the news that he would be eligible to play football next season.

Only recently, Hammer’s head coach Julen Lopetegui had spoken about Paquetá being in a “difficult moment,” while director of football Tim Steidten visited the player at his family home.

The whole situation sounds solemn, and it’s easy to understand why. Whilst Paquetá has always maintained his innocence in regard to the FA charges against him, there must have been a part of him that feared the end of his career.

Therefore, to be informed that he will be eligible to play next season due to a rumoured lack of evidence must be a massive boost to a player who probably wondered whether he’d be able to play again.

It would not surprise me at all if the Hammers playmaker is reinvigorated by the news and returns to East London with a spring in his step and a point to prove. Most importantly, Lucas probably feels like he’s had the weight of the world lifted from his shoulders.

Sure, there will remain some concern as the Football Association continues to investigate the betting charges against him. However, both he and his legal representatives will now feel more emboldened in their ability to fight the charges with the expectancy that he will be found innocent.

It really only means that he’s now a VIABLE target for BIG MONEY team’s,, so would not get any grand ideas of him being an asset to West Ham if you already got yer head in the cloud.

Brilliant, but Sandro tonali should have had the same treatment 😡

    • John says:

Tonali was guilty of betting. Paqueta hasn’t placed any bets, it’s a completely different scenario.

So MPS betting on election get away with it……just saying…..

youre also WRONG to say “the FA continues to investigate”. The investigation has FINISHED! They have now CHARGED him! you cant call someone a thief and then continue to check you were right to call them that!

    • PC says:

Educate yourself. They charged him to continue investigation otherwise they would be sued by WH. Need to do a little more reading and understanding to then say anything.

Sorry, now I got what you meant.

Gonzo, i have a question that nobody anywhere seems to be asking. We all keep being told what will happen if Paq is found guilty, talk about trial by media. But this case is not cut and dried. What if he is found INNOCENT? This will mean the FA has falsely accused him of a crime and as such ruined his reputation and cost both him and WHU in financial terms, lost transfer fees etc. So I assume if he is found innocent the club and Paq will sue the FA for this reputational and financial damage? Like other miscarriages such as being falsely accused of sexual assault, once the charge is brought it is hard to shake the image the accusation has created (eg evans, greenwood, mendy) So what does a sportsperson do in this situation, if they are found innocent? Id love to know what the recourse will be and if there are precedents.

The FA should be ashamed that they are losing FAce!

  • Matthew Reid says:

I just hope he is keen to play for us, reports suggest otherwise!

  • Joseph says:

Great news and just watch the so called investigation “like our dreams” fade and die and the FA will hope it being out of the limelight will save them from much embarrassment……

  • Matt says:

Great news for Paquetá and us! Hoping that this will help him focus without the stress and show exactly why City wanted to pay big money for him.

Such a talent and can’t wait to see him in the 10 role next season!
